Surely thy hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying, I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
2 Corinthians 10:17,18
Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shal be made fat. He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
