Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, of his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbor’s.
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,…
For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous, but who is able to stand before envy?
Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Be not thous envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long. For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.
Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.
1 Corinthians 10:24
And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more that raiment.
